Wow so 2015 is off to a start with a bang. I've been working on stepping into a new image that better embodies my new self, mommy and all. I've enjoyed venturing into some creature work and almost like a kachina doll, i feel as if when i put on the new talisman - i become part of that creature.

I guess that's how a tribal dancer feels after they make their costumes, but as a Modern Cabaret Belly Dancer i never had that feeling before. Anyways, in January I took a trip to NY to work with Tina North of Ms. Tina's Tribal Belly Dancers. This is my 3rd (or 4th?) workshop with them. I LOVE seeing their growth as individuals, as artists, as people… they are some of the most honest women i have ever worked with and i look forward to seeing where this will all continue to go in the future. Tina and i connected right away when i first met her years ago, and she is even discussing doing a Led Zeppelin show and bringing me back for more training later this year…
In the same trip, i was able to take part in the such a fun photo shoot with Eileen Harrigan of Bug Eye Photography that included photographing my Grecian Snow Queen character in the S-N-O-W (what?? I'm from Alabama, what is this white stuff on the ground!?)!!

Thank you so much Eileen for really understanding what i wanted to portray… with chattering teeth in the cold, and hand warmers (thanks Sarah Best) she STILL managed to capture some great shots that looked calm and collected and regal… HOW? With her amazingness, thats how!!! DEFINITELY check out Bug Eye Photography when you need shots in the Albany area in the future!!!
I also had the privilege of getting to shoot some green screen film footage and some green screen pictures at the infamous White Lake Music and Post in Albany,NY with Kiki Vassilakis (courtesy of David Bourgeois). This shoot was particularly special to me as i really invested my entire soul into these character/creature embodiments for the first time ever. I created 3 different and distinct characters with back story in hopes to kick my ass in gear and turn these images and footage into dances and choreographies that portray all of this. Kiki was so relaxed and easy to work with. We played Coco Rosie and dove right in to my uncharted world and she captured some AMAZING stuff!!! Sarah Best (Saria is her dance name, she's one of Ms. Tina's beauties and a family friend) was there to help with costuming, make up and any melt downs that may have occurred (ALWAYS) and her support is a god send to my life. Thanks Sarah! When I met David Bourgeois (the owner of White Lake Music and Post), i knew instantly from talking to him that he genuinely cared about his clients. That they are his extended family and it was such a beautiful feeling. This bond that took me years to build with the people and management that I had toured with eminated from this person upon meeting. If you ever have recording needs, footage you need captured, or are looking for representation PLEASE look up White Lake Music and Post in Albany, NY they are the creme de la creme.
